A little over a year after the sale to Microsoft Nokia, Stephen Elop leaving the company.

Elop joined Microsoft as part of the sale and was given the role of vice president, Devices and Executive Services.

It is strange to resign, just one year after joining the company officially. Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO said in a memo to all staff that it was "the right time to withdraw from Microsoft."

With the departure of Stephen Elop, Terry Myerson, a former vice president of operating systems, have their leadership role of a new group within the company: Grupo devices and Windows.

The Windows Device Group and is the result of Group operating systems (Windows builds) and devices group (which builds the surface, Xbox and other equipment) to merge into one.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, sent a note to all staff with respect Elop resign, saying:

When Stephen Elop returned to Microsoft, Microsoft addressed MDG to create the best experience through their devices, including hardware, software and services. He was a strong advocate of the need to promote the focus and accountability around the delivery of these experiences and helped lead to tighter alignment of ambition more personal computing.
With the structural change described above, Stephen and I have agreed that now is the right time to withdraw from Microsoft. I regret the loss of leadership it represents, and I'm excited to see where his next destination will be.
